Peterborough is most famous for its railway heritage now preserved in the highly acclaimed Steamtown Heritage Rail Centre including the famous Roundhouse. To this day Peterborough is still an active railway town with the Indian Pacific Transcontinental Passenger train passing through Peterborough four times a week.
